Privacy policy

Last updated: September 5, 2026

Privacy Tools Hub (“we”, “us”, the “site”) helps people compare VPNs and related privacy tools. We try to practice what the site is about, so we keep data collection minimal and avoid anything invasive. This policy explains what we collect, why, how long we keep it, and the choices you have.

Information we collect

  • Privacy-friendly analytics. We measure aggregate page views and general traffic patterns (such as which pages are popular and roughly where visitors come from) using analytics designed to avoid cross-site tracking. These numbers are aggregated and are not used to identify you.
  • Outbound click events. When you click certain links — for example a “Get provider” button — we record that the click happened so we can see which comparisons are useful. This records the provider, page path, placement, affiliate status and UTC date. Our click records do not include an IP, email, cookie identifier or URL query string.
  • Contact messages. If you email us or use a contact form, we receive whatever you choose to send (such as your message and, if you provide it, a reply address) so we can respond.

Privacy tools and service providers

The IP checker asks this website for the IP address received by our hosting service. Starting a WebRTC check also contacts Google’s public STUN service. Our application does not save the displayed test IPs, but hosting and STUN services receive connection metadata and may process it under their own policies.

The password breach check sends the first five characters of a SHA-1 hash to Have I Been Pwned when you start a lookup. The remaining match is performed in your browser; the password itself is not sent. Browser-signal and password-generation results remain on the page.

Our contact form uses Formspree to receive messages. Its processing and retention are also subject to Formspree’s service settings and privacy policy.

What we do not collect

We do not sell personal data, we do not run cross-site advertising trackers, and we do not build advertising profiles about you. We do not ask you to create an account, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.

How we use information

  • To understand which guides, reviews, and comparisons are helpful, so we can improve them.
  • To keep the site working, fast, and secure.
  • To reply to messages you send us.

Cookies and local storage

We aim to keep cookie use to a minimum. Any cookies or local storage we do use are for essential functions and basic, privacy-respecting analytics — not for advertising. You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings at any time; the site is designed to keep working if you do.

Affiliate links and third parties

Some links on the site are affiliate links. When you follow one, you leave Privacy Tools Hub and visit the provider’s own website, which has its own privacy policy and cookies that we do not control. The provider may record that the visit came from us so any commission is attributed correctly. We explain how this funding works on the affiliate disclosure page. It never changes our scores or the price you pay.

Data retention

New first-party click and feedback records expire automatically after 90 days. Earlier aggregate click counters are retained separately and do not identify individual visitors. Analytics and contact messages held by external services have separate retention settings; the 90-day application limit does not delete those external records.

Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal information we hold about you, or to object to certain processing. Because we collect so little — and most of it is aggregated and not linked to you — the main personal data we may hold is a contact message you sent. To ask us to remove a message, or to make any other request, just contact us with the details and we will action it.

International visitors

The site is available internationally and may be operated from, or use services in, countries other than your own. Where that involves transferring information, we keep the amount minimal and handle it in line with this policy.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the site evolves or as laws change. When we do, we will revise the “last updated” date at the top. Significant changes will be reflected here rather than emailed, since we do not maintain a mailing list of visitors.
